- Nicole Jaquis - recent projects with projectile arts -

Nicole began working with Projectile Arts in June of 2000, traveled to India with them that December, and later became the Associate Producer on their feature length documentary "Take Me to the River", covering the largest gathering in the history of the planet, the Maha Kumbh Mela, 2001 in Northern India. She Returned to India the following winter to oversee the translation and subtitling process for TMTTR and has been studying Hindi ever since.

In January 2003, she traveled to southern Brazil to record sound and shoot stills during Kate Cunningham's "Terra Livre" documentary pre-production trip, where she attended the third annual World Social Forum in Porto Alegre, and is now one of the film's Associate Producers.

Yet another winter abroad brought her back to India in 2004 to attend, participate and document the People's World Water Forum in New Delhi, the World Social Forum in Mumbai, the World Spiritual Film Festival in Goa where TMTTR had it's Indian premiere. What planned to be a three month trip, turned into seven months touring the film TMTTR around Northern India. Renting projectors, sound systems and in many cases hiring electricians, Nicole and Saugat Datta set up outdoor cinemas in other places such as Arail (Allahabad), New Delhi, and finally Ujjain (during this millennium's second cycle of the Maha Kumbh Mela).

Upon return to the States, she teamed up with Projectile Arts founder, Casey Meade to document the making of the largest inflatable sculpture ever made. Jadu Beta, conceived by Saul Melman, was one of the premiere sculptures at the 2004 Burning Man festival.

Over the years, Nicole has co-produced various Projectile Arts fashion shows, concerts, video screenings, and fundraisers, including Intuition Galas I, II and III.

Currently Nicole is preparing for her third trip to the Kumbh Mela in India. There she will continue her documentation of Sadhvi (ascetic Hindu holy women) Sanskar (initiation) into Juna Akhara and further develop the project she started at the 2004 Maha Kumbh Mela in Ujjain: Photo Khichiye, Ascetics with Cameras.
